piano

Here's how you can help me :

To participate is easy, you only need a piano and the means to record it :

Just pick one key you like to be part of the ONE NOTE project. Record it and send it to me

You can:         - use any microphone technique you like

- use an U47 on a Steinway in a concerthall,
or use a handheld recorder on an old upright in the middle of town square

                       - eq, compress it, mess around or you can leave it clean and pristine sounding

-keep the background noises in the file, or edit them out

-prepare the piano with clips, chewing gums or whatever.

-hit the piano hard, soft, right or wrong. Well, there's is NO wrong!

Whatever you fancy ..

The goal is to get as many different SOUNDING samples as possible

But you must name the file including the following informations :

       -Key number : A0 to C8

-Dynamics : (pp, p, mf, f of ff). Please tell me how hard you've hit the piano

-Piano name : What kind of piano you have recorded.
I would be most happy if you could include a picture as well

-Your name : This will be important as all contributors will be mentioned on the record I
        will release

Here is an example of how I would like YOU to name the file :

"A1-pp-yamahagrandconcert-christianborngraeber.wav"

Once you have recorded the file, send it to notes@one-note.org

The files can be stereo or mono, 8 to 24 bit, 32 to 192kHz. But it MUST be a wave file (.wav) not som proprietary sampler file and please not compressed in any kind of MP3 format!

The file however, must not be larger than 10 Mb .

If you have any notes on how you recorded the piano, feel free to send them to me also

What happens then?

All submissions will be listed in the notes window. There you can see which notes I allready have received files for and which keys of the growing instrument are missing a voice

There is no problem if there is more than one note for a certain key. But if for example g6 has 20 files allready, it would be great if you could record g#6 instead

But if you have a favourite note and it's allready been listed, send it anyway!

And YES, you can send as many notes as you like as long as they are from different pianos. However, I cannot asure you that I will use them all. Afterall, the idea is to get ALL keys to have their own special sound

Why should I send a note?

Because YOU love the piano and think this is a great - and fun - idea!

Because YOU are curious just HOW this awesome instrument will end up sounding!

And yes, every participant will get the final virtual instrument for free for use with Native's Kontakt player +  a free download of my album, which will be released on m=minimal (and sold commercially)

The notes YOU send me will however NOT be sold commercially and the virtual instrument will be given to you only after the release of my album

And yes, you CAN use the virtual instrument in a recording in ANY way you please. But you cannot sell the actual sampleset for Native's Kontakt in any way. Fair enough?

Let the recording begin!
